History

In 1937 Emmitt Hannah started his trucking service in Ivanhoe, California when he was 23 years old.
Emmitt began with one truck which he used to haul oranges, tomatoes, figs, produce and other agricultural products throughout Tulare and Fresno Counties. He also hauled produce to the San Francisco and Los Angeles produce markets.

In 1939 Darrell Hannah was born, and by 1948 Emmitt's Trucking Service had grown to 7 trucks. By 1953 Emmitt had diversified his hauling service and was now hauling for the construction field. It was during this time that he purchased his first bottom and end dump trucks.

In 1955 at the age of 16, Darrell started working in the business part time after school and during summers. In 1958 at age 18 Darrell began working in the business full time.

In 1959 Darrell married Elaine. And in 1963 their son Randy Hannah was born. The business continued to grow, and by 1967 Emmitt and Darrell added the Sunkist company to their list of clients hauling more oranges.

1971 was a special year for Darrell and his wife Elaine. This was the year they bought the business from Emmitt and once again expanded by purchasing enclosed vans and refrigerated trucks to accommodate clients that needed this type of trucking service.

In 1972 Darrell purchased Muir Trucking and acquired the Del Monte account hauling peaches. At the same time Darrell was able to pick up the Wheeling Pacific account for hauling pipe and steel. Next Darrell added Sun Sweet to his list of clients and started hauling prunes.

The purchase of Muir Trucking Service in 1972 allowed Darrell to separate his agricultural and construction trucking services by committing Hannah Trucking Service primarily to hauling all construction related products and Muir Trucking Service to produce and agricultural products.

Throughout this period of time, Darrell pushed hard working 6 and 7 days a week, constantly growing the business and acquiring more accounts. In 1979 Randy started working at the business after school and summers, much like his father began. During this period of time Randy began learning everything he could about the business. He was being groomed by his father Darrell, to be able to take over the operations one day.

Each generation of Hannah brought new ideas into the family trucking business. Emmitt began with produce, then grew and diversified into construction hauling. Darrell added another company and was able to separate the services and grow the company even further.

In 1995 Randy moved from the shop to the office and began working as an estimator and dispatcher. In 2005, Randy, the 3rd generation, took over all operations when his father, Darrell, retired. Now in 2023, Randy has over 25 years of experience and continues to push forward, honoring a three generation tradition of quality service in the trucking service industry
